Sericin Extract Liquid
Sericin Extract consists of two types of protein : Fibroin, which makes up 70-80% of the silk, and Sericin, which makes up 20-30%. Both types of silk protein play significant roles in various functions. Sericin is a highly popular protein that consists of as many as 18 types of amino acids. It has unique properties such as being non-toxic and naturally biodegradable. It also has oxidation resistance, which helps reduce the formation of free radicals that damage skin cells, decreasing signs of skin deterioration like dark spots and wrinkles. Moreover, Sericin has antimicrobial properties, helps protect skin from UV radiation, enhances collagen production, and helps retain skin moisture.
Sericin specifically inhibits the function of the enzyme Tyrosinase, which is responsible for speeding up the oxidation reactions of the amino acids Tyrosine and 3, 4-dihydroxy-L-phenylalanine (L-DOPA) in the synthesis of melanin pigment. This is the cause of dark spots, freckles, and melasma on the skin. As a result, the production of melanin pigment decreases, reducing dark spots, freckles, and melasma, making the skin brighter and clearer.
