Emblic Extract Powder
Emblic is a member of the Euphorbiaceae, Phyllanthus emblica ranges in status from insignificant in the western world to highly prized in tropical Asia. Alternative English names include emblic myrobalan, Malacca tree and Indian gooseberry. In Thailand the emblic is called ma-kham-pom.
The emblic extract powder is known as a rich source of vitamin C, also contains a mixture of phenolic compounds and minerals, amino acids, such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, manganese, magnesium, chromium, vitamin a, and B-complex. The emblic fruit is reported to contain nearly 20 times as much vitamin C as orange juice.
Emblic Fruit
The emblic is of great importance in Asiatic medicine, not only as an antiscorbutic, but in the treatment of diverse ailments, especially those associated with the digestive organs. In the latter state, it is prescribed in jaundice, dyspepsia and coughs. The fruit is considered diuretic and laxative. In Thai traditional medicine, the fresh fruit is used as an antitussive and expectorant. The dried fruit is used as an astringent, an antidiarrheal, an antidysenteric and a remedy of hemorrhoid. In research, the dried fruit extract of emblic produces skin whitening agent. Moreover, its properties are anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic and anti-oxidant.
The active ingredients from the emblic fruit are polyphenolic compounds such as gallic acid, corilagin, chubulagic acid, elaeocarpusin and putranjivain A. In cosmetics, the Emblic extract is used as a skin lightener, after sun care products and stretch mark reduction products. If very finely Emblic is taken with two spoonful of honey followed by a glass of cow’s milk for two months, it makes a man powerful and full of strength. It also purifies the blood and makes a man fit.
Anticancer Properties of Emblic Extract Powder
Emblic extracts have been demonstrated to have potent tumor repressive properties against a number of cancer types both in vitro and in vivo.
